Description

Join us Saturday, August 24th for Songs & Stories: An intimate evening of music featuring Alex Dunn, Bob Barrick, Joe Ouellette, and H. Thomas Barnes

Come and hear four amazing songwriters and the stories behind their songs!

Featured Artists:

Alex Dunn is a reformed commercial fisherman and singer-songwriter who recently left Seattle and relocated to the rural outskirts of Aztec, New Mexico.  Dunn uses his own personal blend of Folk/Americana to reflect on the many lives he's led, from his youth along the border of Colorado and Wyoming to the quiet moments aboard commercial fishing vessels in the remote waters of Southeast Alaska.  Melodic sawdust and salt air, his music breathes with a sense of place, yet is imminently accessible and speaks to the universal.

Bob Barrick has over 10 years in the independent folk world, and has cemented himself as a prolific singer-songwriter and producer best known for idiosyncratic lyricism and hook-heavy melodies in the folk and alt-country idiom. “At times, Barrick’s vocal tone is reminiscent of “Right Down the Line” singer Gerry Rafferty, who topped the charts in the ‘70s. At others, tinges of Cat Stevens, John Denver, and James Taylor surface. There’s a certain nostalgic vibe to his delivery, one that provides a similar authenticity and feel akin to Laurel Canyon greats.” - Boulder Daily Camera

Joe Ouellette, prince of the trailer park, the Cimarron Songbird. A fixture of the local community, Joe has been picking and singing in SW Colorado all his life. Raised between Norwood and Telluride, Joe found an early love in folk and country music, introduced to these by his grandparents who were steeped in the Bakersfield Sound. A local business owner and father of two, Joe is and has ever been here to stay, offering a kind word, a helping hand and a song to all in his vicinity. Expect traditional melodies and words that weave a tapestry of untold stories detailing lives in the blue collar communities that are his origin and his passion. Joe sings it how it is, and y’all best listen.

H. Thomas Barnes is a singer-songwriter blending folk and americana with a touch of country twang. Honest lyrics, written from the heart, that kindle up stories from his time spent on the road, time spent growing up in the heart of the southeast, and time spent trekking the mountains and high deserts of southwest Colorado. His writing is influenced by the music he grew up on, From Townes Van Zandt, to john prine, and the many country legends of old that his father introduced him to at a young age. At the core, Thomas believes that lyricism and a good story are the foundation of any song worth listening to.
