DETAILS:
Lost in 16mm - The Collection of Peter Gamble
Television host and reporter Peter Gamble was involved in making stories for early BTV Television shows around 1973/74 in Ballarat.
When Peter passed in 2005, he left a collection of his raw 16mm film to his sister Susie.
15 years later she forwarded the material to Rex Hardware of H Squared Studios.
Rex had produced ‘Remembering BTV6’ for Ballarat Heritage Weekend in 2018
Susie was introduced to Rex by BTV On Air newsreader Craig Campbell.
The material consists of multiple 16mm reels and has arrived back in Ballarat and is being digitised by H Squared Studios at Ballarat Trades Hall, so the family can see Peter’s legacy and celebrate it with our local community. .
The final resting place for the material is to be NFSA in Canberra.
Crowd-funding during test screenings has allowed the work involved in the project to be paid for so the project can be completed.
The reels digitised are a time capsule of a time long gone in Ballarat (and Melbourne).
Ballarat Trades Hall Events and H Squared Studios are presenting some public screenings to share these wonderful moments of our cultural history that have been rescued and restored for us to enjoy.
