The Historic Urbani Bocci's Cellar is the oldest operating venue in Santa Cruz California. Originally a boarding house for railroad workers and later the Tannery, in 1910 was purchased by the Urbani family and became a restaurant and event gathering spot for immigrants in Santa Cruz.. It has seen many turning points throughout its history and survived the 1918 global pandemic, the stock market crash of 1929, the great depression, prohibition, WWI, WWII, the economic collapse of 2008, and is trying to survive the economic fallout from the 2019 global pandemic and subsequent mandatory shutdown of all bars, restaurants and music venues. During this time 90% of all independently owned music venues went out of business across the nation. Armed with the history of this location and confidence in the local, state and federal governments plan for economic recovery Urbani Cellar LLC held tight and remains open as the resilient local treasure it has been since 1910. With minimal federal financial assistance and under extreme conditions it has focused on a new remodeled venue and state of the art production equipment including an 180 degree immersive video projection display and multi camera streaming to accommodate the social distance requirements. Virtual production and streaming events for not just musicians but for conferences, meetups, and company parties is part of our new normal. We need your support to continue to preserve and retrofit our site to maintain growth, recovery and the new health and safety measures of the modern age.
