Description
Take the opportunity to step out of your everyday life with this one-day camp inspired program. Spend a day outside in the woods with this camping inspired day long intensive workshop. As an adult no one can teach you “how to be a man” we are here to guide you through experiences to bring you back to center. During the day you will find peace somewhere between exertion and introspection. Nature immersion is a key component to resetting and returning to natural rhythms that support your innate abilities. Working in nature helps to build strength, promote long-term well-being and the body’s ability to heal.
Fitness, mindfulness, intro to survival training, introspection and communication are some of the main themes of the day. We cover a lot in a short time. A physical, outdoor experience centered around taking wellbeing into your own hands.
We are bombarded with contradictory expectations; we are not always given credit for even having intuition. Our instincts are often vilified, leaving us unsure if we can trust ourselves. Some of our greatest traits as men; decisiveness, the ability to think on our feet, and to protect our family at a second’s notice, all hinge on our willingness to trust ourselves. As adult men the biggest change we can make in our lives is to trust our own judgment.
The work does not end in one day, there will be rebuilding to be done as you replace warn out patterns and work toward a new future, but you will walk away with new tools to navigate your life.
Must be 18 or older.
Enjoy a Kachava shake, Healthy locally catered boxed lunch. The day will wrap up with snacks, tea and beer around a bonfire.

Developing as an self-directed and free-thinking person is not easy, for men there are added pressures.
One of the earliest messages we get growing up is to be quiet, if we internalize this too well, as adults we struggle to use our voice or lead in a meaningful way. Others push back and are labeled too laud or too aggressive. Either way this messaging can stifle growth and expression, often misdirecting masculine energy into negative outcomes. Without space, respect, understanding, and guidance, men are thrown into extreme situations or find themselves having to figure life out on their own in sink or swim conditions. We are creating a space for men to step into integrity, power, and action, by refining their vision and purpose.
The world is changing, and so is the natural expression of masculinity, so many of us resign ourselves to what is most acceptable and least controversial. Boys entering this world are more likely to hear terms like “toxic masculinity” before ever hearing terms of honor or respect. Current conditions would suggest this kind of messaging harms society as a whole.
We can find a balance that brings us back to our true nature, one where we are not at war with ourselves and those around us.
Our understanding of being a man is formed by a society that glorifies an exaggerated form of masculinity one minute and demonizes it the next. With so much overt and veiled messaging, pushing us from one side then the other, we don’t always have a leg to stand on. SLF Men’s Retreat offers an opportunity to come back to center and redefine what it means to each of us to be men so we can show up differently in the world with more flexibility and resolve.
Masculinity is an elemental force of nature, a reality. We can find ways to accept a fuller understanding rather than suppress and dull it. SLF Men’s Retreat enables you to step outside of your learned reality and experience course activities that create a supportive level of hard work and peaceful introspection to rebuild self-worth and understanding.
Why just men? SLF offers a variety of programs, most have been geared toward or provided exclusively to women. Men living within a biological male frame, face unprecedented issues today. Offering positive support at this time is an offer of support to the greater community as a whole.
Men historically do not seek help for physical, let alone mental concerns, (this training does not take the place of any treatment for medical, emotional or addiction). It is a multidisciplinary approach to wellbeing and personal growth, helping men arrive at their most balanced and compassionate.
