What is that moment a singing actor must make the transition from speaking to singing? How do they truthfully, engagingly bring the audience with them into the singing world? We will investigate melody, lyric, song arrangement, and writer’s intention to fortify the actor’s most truthful and useful interpretation.
*AGES 18 AND UP. This is an advanced musical theater workshop, not for beginners. Participants must prepare a song in advance and be off-book for it. Participants should have confident (off-book) knowledge of the entire song: lyric, melody, transitions (key changes, etc.), and an understanding of any dynamic notations from the composer/lyricist. After that, they should choose a song that makes them feel comfortable, confident, and able to play and explore!
