Acclaimed New York Times Best-Selling author Lisa Genova will join Greg O’Brien, author of the international award-winning On Pluto: Inside the Mind of Alzheimer’s, for a special Alzheimer’s presentation. Proceeds from the presentation will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Family Support Center in Brewster.
Genova, who earned a Ph.D in Neuroscience from Harvard, is author of Still Alice, and several other New York Times Best-Selling novels including: Left Neglected, the story of a woman who suffers from left neglect (also called hemispatial or unilateral neglect), caused by a traumatic brain injury; Love Anthony, a story of inside the mind of Autism; Inside the O’Brien’s, a story of how Huntington’s Disease affects patients and relationships; and Every Note Played, a story of a pianist who discovers and lives with a diagnosis of ALS.
Still Alice, the story of a courageous 50-year-old woman who teaches cognitive psychology at Harvard and who suffers from Early Onset Alzheimer’s, earned Julianne Moore an Academy Award for Best Actress for her impressive portrayal of this journey and its effects on family.
O’Brien is a career journalist who over the years has written for media such as Psychology Today, Huffington Post, Time, Washington post, Associated Press, Boston Magazine, Boston Herald American, USA Today, and others. He is the author/editor of several books, and has contributed to scripts for PBS/NOVA, as well as other projects.
