Description

Biloxi Little Theatre is proud to present the first play of our 75th season, John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men".

During The Great Depression, two drifters, George and his friend Lennie, with delusions of living off the “fat of the land,” have just arrived at a ranch to work for enough money to buy their own place. Lennie is a man-child, a little boy in the body of a dangerously powerful man. It’s Lennie’s obsessions with things soft and cuddly that have made George cautious about who the gentle giant, with his brute strength, associates with. His promise to allow Lennie to “tend to the rabbits” on their future land keeps Lennie calm, amidst distractions, as the overgrown child needs constant reassurance. But when a tragedy occurs on the ranch, it’s obvious that Lennie, albeit accidentally, is to blame. George, now worried about his own safety, knows exactly where Lennie has gone to hide, and he meets him there. Realizing they can’t run away anymore, George is faced with a moral question: How should he deal with Lennie before the ranchers find him and take matters into their own hands?

This production contains adult language and the sound of gunshots. Content may not be appropriate for young children.

Biloxi Little Theatre takes the safety of our guests, cast, crew and volunteers very seriously. All front of house staff are vaccinated against Covid and will wear masks when the theatre is open.  We ask that you help us keep everyone healthy!

Please note that the cast will be performing without masks while on stage. There is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any public place where people are present. According to the CDC, senior citizens and those with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. By visiting Biloxi Little Theatre, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

Please carefully read the safety procedures outlined below:

1. Any guests who have been exposed to COVID-19 or have exhibited any symptoms of COVID-19 within 10 days from the day of the show should not attend.

2. Wearing a proper face covering and wearing it correctly at all times except when actively eating or drinking is required for attendance. Masks must consist of at least two layers of material and be worn securely over the nose, mouth, and chin. Bandanas, face shields without an accompanying mask and gaiter-type face coverings are not allowed. We will be happy to provide a proper mask if a guest does not have their own.

3. Guests are asked to adhere to social distancing measures wherever possible.

In addition to the procedures referenced above, we have installed medical grade A/C filters, and the lobby and auditorium will receive enhanced cleaning and sanitizing prior to the show and before and after intermission.

We know these are a lot of rules to follow, and we are deeply appreciative of your adherence to them. These are difficult times and in order to have a live audience, we must take these precautions. Thank you for your understanding and we really hope you enjoy the show!

Located in east Biloxi, the playhouse is housed in a historic building at 220 Lee Street, south of the Biloxi Kroc Center and north of the Deer Island cut. Parts of the building date to the 1890's. Amenities include handicapped parking and accessibility, dual air conditioning and heating, and lighted and patrolled parking areas.

Hurricane Katrina devastated the district, and the theatre was seriously damaged. A major renovation took place and improvements are ongoing to this day.

We work to make Biloxi Little Theatre uncommon. We produce plays that other local theatres won’t. We don’t edit our plays for content, and we offer a wide array of material. We work hard to keep our prices reasonable. We offer discounted tickets for seniors, students, and active military. We also offer season tickets at various levels, program advertising, and production sponsorship.

The arts are what make any community an interesting place to live, and Biloxi Little Theatre has been a part of the local arts scene since 1946. For over 20 years we’ve offered summer teen shows; now we’re offering programs for younger children; and we’re always ready to take a shot at something new. Come join us! Buy a ticket; encourage your friends to do the same! Work back stage, volunteer in the lobby, audition for a part! And help us spread the word about just how special theatre can be!
