Description

Presented by the Dream Café, Peach City Sessions is a monthly songwriters showcase hosted by Dave & Kirby Barber that features a different accomplished artist each month. These concerts give the audience a chance to hear the stories behind the songs, and experience an evening of intimate acoustic music. (Doors open at 6pm, kitchen is open from 6pm-9pm, and the show begins at 8pm.)

Hosted by seasoned industry professionals, Dave & Kirby Barber are award winning musicians who most recently moved to Penticton after living in Nashville for the past several years. They have toured around the world backing up dozens of artists from Canada and the US. They currently perform their own music as well as continue to tour with artists such as Shari Ulrich, Barney Bentall, Aaron Pritchett, Chad Brownlee, Heidi Newfield and Brittney Spencer.

May's Peach City Sessions features Duane Steele - Duane Steele is among Canada’s top country recording artists and songwriters with a professional career dating back to 1984. Born and raised in the small Alberta Peace Country town of Hines Creek, music was a big part of Duane’s life growing up.

In 1984 Duane’s professional career began, fronting the band Rock ‘N’ Horse. Their album, Highways, was released in 1991. Despite top 20 singles, non stop touring, and a Juno nomination for Country Band of the Year Rock ‘N’ Horse disbanded in 1993. Duane took this opportunity to pursue his goals as a recording artist and songwriter, landing a publishing contract with Warner Chapel in Nashville.

In 1995 a showcase at Canadian Country Music Week in Calgary resulted in his signing a recording contract with Mercury Canada. Duane’s solo debut album “PO Box 423” was released in February 1996 and saw his first three singles go Top 5 on the Canadian Country Charts, including the #1 Hit “Anita Got Married”. His sophomore release “This Is The Life” was released a year and a half later and furthered his presence on the Canadian music charts with all six singles released achieving Top 30 chart position (two becoming Top 10 hits). In support of both albums Duane released seven music videos on CMT (three of which went to #1).

Touring and promoting became a way of life for Duane once again. He was on the road traveling with his CCMA award winning band opening for some of the hottest acts in country music including Shania Twain, Terri Clark, Trisha Yearwood, Sammy Kershaw, and Prairie Oyster. In 1997 Duane was the winner of the CCMA for Vocal Collaboration of the Year with Lisa Brokop for the single “Two Names On An Overpass”.

His third solo album “I’ll Be Alright” was released in August 2000 with seven singles released to radio and three videos released to CMT. In 2001 Duane was rewarded for his first independently released album by winning the Independent Male Vocalist of the Year Award by the CCMA.

2004 saw the release of “Set List”. A best of album including 17 radio singles from his three previous solo albums and three new songs that were released to radio. A video for the song “Better Man” was filmed in Calgary for CMT.

Other Albums Duane has released include ” Ghost Town” 2006, ” Gas And Time” 2010, “Dirt And Dreams” 2015 ,  “Remembering Jones” (A Tribute ) 2017 ,  “Bonfires And Guitars” 2021.

Duane released a new single called ” The Road ” in August of 2022 and is currently working on his 10 album of new songs.

Duane’s pure voice and natural stage presence makes his live shows a must see. When he is not touring or working on his own projects he is often writing with other artists. Production has been a natural progression and he looks forward to working in this area while continuing his own solo career.

With Special Guest Beamer Wigley

I’ve been playing guitar since I was 5 and performing since I was 7.  I wrote my first song when I was also 7 and in 2017, I was invited to join on stage for  the 'Song Writers Series' at the  CCMA’s, a huge honour and the youngest writer ever to be on that stage!

Starting from age 11, I have opened for multiple artists including 3 times each for Brett Kissel and George Canyon, plus Aaron Pritchett, Gord Bamford, Granger Smith and Dwight Yoakam.  I perform as both a solo artist as well as with my band and my mix of songs covers a wide range of artists as well as my own music.

On July 6th 2018, I released my third single “Roller Coaster”, which was added to Disney Country Radio in L.A. In 2019, I  released 3 singles, including "I Knew", "I Want It Now" and on  Dec. 20th, "Crazy Being Crazy"  which reached #53 on the TRAX Charts and #58 on the Mediabase Chart.  To date, I have accumulated over 1,500,000 streams just on Apple Music & Spotify and 500k views on my YouTube Music Videos.

2020 got off to a quick start with my latest single "I Got You" released in January followed up with "Something To Do With A Girl in July.  In December I released “Summer Forever, followed up with “Never Not Love You” in March.  My 4th and latest EP titled ‘Upside Down’ was released on April 30th.,   My previous EP titled 'Cloud 9 24/7' was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2020 BC Country Music Awards.

Following the collapse from Covid, it wasn't until  April 2022, that I released by latest single titled "Us".   In the meantime, I have created my own home recording studio with plans to do some of my own mixing and hopefully do some demos for other artists.  My next single has been in the works for many months, but it is close to ready to be released latter this summer and will reflect a new type of song for my music!

I’m also an invited member of the 'Brotherhood of The Guitar' and I received a sponsorship from Music Man/Ernie Ball.  I also play keyboard, banjo and drums.
