Description

Hosted in the James Devin Moncus Theater, this annual gala celebrates the leading supporters of arts and culture in Acadiana on Saturday, December 2, 2023. The event also features a live and silent auction, which is the only opportunity to receive a Pelicans on Parade for your business or home.

The Pelican Ball recognizes the people who have shaped the arts in Acadiana through their commitment and service. We honor both individuals who have contributed directly to the arts council’s work and individuals who have shaped the broader cultural life in Acadiana through their work.

We honor these individuals, and we celebrate our thriving culture in the best way we know how: with a night full of food, music, and artful surprises amidst the core ‘flock’ of Acadiana’s cultural community.

Pelican Ball 2023 Honorees:

Vicki Chrisman

William Daniel Hare

Randy & Daynese Haynie

Honorees Reception

Pelican Ball sponsors are invited to attend the VIP reception for honorees which begins at 6pm on the evening of the gala. This is an intimate gathering where the honorees are presented with plaques recognizing their service and where all honorees have a chance to speak.

All funds raised from The Pelican Ball will support the programs of Acadiana Center for the Arts, offering national acts of music, dance, and theater, and visual art in Lafayette, as well as the expansion of AcA’s community programs impacting more than 80 public and private schools.

Since its founding as the Acadiana Arts Council in 1974 and its transformation into the Acadiana Center for the Arts in 2010, the AcA has presented hundreds of artists around the world in the heart of Acadiana, while also serving as a platform for Louisiana artists to shine.

Acadiana Center for the Arts

Our mission is fostering art and culture in Acadiana.

Founded in 1975, Acadiana Center for the Arts (“AcA”) is a community-supported nonprofit organization that fosters art and culture in Acadiana. Since its founding, AcA has developed as a major force, shaping the future of public education and community development in South Louisiana.

AcA supports the creation of new works of art, exhibits, festivals, performances, and public art across an eight-parish region that includes Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, and Vermilion Parishes.

AcA aims to bring equitable access to the arts and supports fair compensation of artists. On average, AcA serves over 300,000 people annually and provides fair compensation to 2,700 artists.

In 2013, the AcA merged with the Performing Arts Society of Acadiana (“PASA”), whose mission was to educate, inspire, entertain, and culturally enrich the people of south Louisiana by providing local access to a diverse range of the performing arts. This merger supported the vision of both organizations and provided much-needed support to PASA’s programs. Founded in 1989, PASA served as a leading voice in the performing arts in South Louisiana for close to three decades.
