Petty Things: Wisconsin’s Premier Tom Petty Tribute Band
Petty Things is a Wisconsin-based tribute band dedicated to honoring the legendary music of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. The band’s mission is simple: to faithfully recreate the sound, spirit, and energy of one of rock music’s most beloved acts, delivering an authentic musical experience that transports audiences back to the golden era of rock ‘n’ roll.
With attention to detail and a deep respect for Tom Petty’s legacy, Petty Things has become a standout tribute act, captivating audiences with every performance across the midwest.
Tom Petty’s music has always transcended genres, blending rock, folk, blues, and pop with a distinct sense of authenticity. For Petty Things, recreating this magic goes beyond just playing the notes—they channel the heart and soul that made Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers so special.
With a setlist packed full of hits like “Free Fallin’,” “American Girl,” “Refugee,” and “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” the band delivers a concert experience that pays homage to Petty’s ability to craft timeless, sing-along anthems while also tapping into deep cuts for the diehard fans.
The Band
Petty Things brings together a stellar lineup of seasoned Wisconsin musicians, each with a deep-rooted passion for Tom Petty’s music. Their collective talent and chemistry on stage make them more than just a cover band—they embody the true essence of Petty’s sound.
Geoff Landon – Lead Vocals
Frontman and four-time WAMI Award winner Geoff Landon brings Tom Petty’s unmistakable vocal style to life with incredible accuracy. Known for his dynamic stage presence and powerful voice, Landon has been captivating audiences for years as a solo artist and fronting various bands across the Midwest. His love for Tom Petty’s music runs deep, and his dedication to replicating Petty’s laid-back yet commanding vocal delivery is the driving force behind Petty Things’ success. Geoff’s natural charisma and stage energy make him the perfect fit for this tribute, ensuring that every performance is filled with the passion that Petty himself exuded. In addition to Petty Things, he can currently be found playing across Wisconsin with Geoff Landon’s High Country and Still Reckless.
Pat Stillman – Lead Guitar
Pat Stillman delivers the signature guitar riffs and solos that Mike Campbell made famous with The Heartbreakers. As the lead guitarist for Petty Things, Stillman masterfully replicates Campbell’s understated yet iconic style. A veteran of the Wisconsin music scene, Stillman’s playing is both soulful and electrifying, giving fans the unmistakable sound of Petty’s catalog, from “American Girl” to “Runnin’ Down a Dream.” Stillman’s dedication to capturing Campbell’s unique blend of rock and blues shines through in every performance. When not in Petty Things, he can be found playing jazz (The Swingin’ Royals), soul (Minor Worries), and funk (FBI and the Untouchable Horns) every week across Wisconsin.
Chris Okkerse – Bass Guitar
Holding down the low end is Chris Okkerse, a versatile musician who flawlessly channels the groove and backing vocals of Heartbreakers’ bassist Howie Epstein (Epstein himself was a Wisconsin native). Whether it’s the driving pulse of “You Wreck Me” or the subtle groove of “Don’t Do Me Like That”, Okkerse delivers the steady, reliable bass lines that Petty’s music demands. Chris also plays guitar in his music duo, The Cheese Doodles, solo acoustic shows, and is bassist for the popular country group, Chasin’ Mason.
Terry Michaels – Keyboards
On keyboards, Terry Michaels adds texture and layers to the band’s sound, bringing to life the atmospheric elements that Benmont Tench contributed to The Heartbreakers. From the signature piano in “Good to Be King” to the screaming Hammond organ in “Refugee,” Michaels’ playing is both versatile and expressive. A veteran keyboardist, Michaels skillfully replicates the rich, multi-dimensional soundscapes that made The Heartbreakers’ music so timeless. Outside of Petty Things, Terry can be found playing keys with his original prog rock band, Lyndenthal.
Erik Holmes – Drums
Erik Holmes drives the rhythm section with precision and energy, expertly recreating the drumming style of Stan Lynch and Steve Ferrone. Holmes’ ability to switch seamlessly between the tight, punchy beats of Petty’s rock anthems and the more subtle, nuanced grooves of their ballads makes him an integral part of Petty Things. Erik is a sought after drum instructor and can also be found playing drums with Geoff Landon’s High Country.
With Special Guest BD Greer as Stevie Nicks
Adding an extra layer of magic to Petty Things is BD Greer, who brings the presence of Stevie Nicks to the stage, performing hits like “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” with Geoff Landon, as well as a few select Fleetwood Mac tunes. Greer’s background as one of Wisconsin’s most acclaimed jazz singers helps her beautifully capture Nicks’ signature raspy tone, and her chemistry with Landon brings the spirit of their iconic collaboration to life.
Together, Petty Things delivers an unforgettable live experience that pays homage to the legacy of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. The band brings passion, authenticity, and love for the music, making each show a celebration of Petty’s enduring impact on rock and roll.
