The Brighton & Hove Food Partnership's Community Kitchen is a cookery school where everyone can cook, learn new skills and enjoy food with others. We want everyone to experience the benefits of cooking and eating together. By paying for a cookery class, you help other people to attend cookery activities, regardless of finance, confidence or ability, and to make lasting changes to their lives.
Description
If you are interested in recreating the satisfying textures and flavours of some of your favourite meals from before you went meat free, looking to go meat free or treat the veggie/vegan in your life then this is the class for you.
During the evening, Sophie of SuperDoux vegan catering will share her tried and tested recipes for a perfect plant based dinner party or special night in. She is passionate about veganising dishes with an emphasis on creativity and understanding professional flavours and textures. In the class you will learn to make seitan, a delicious meat alternative made from wheat gluten and how to turn the humble carrot into a unique and smoky dish. These taste delicious when cooked from scratch and reduce the need for you to buy pre made alternatives from the supermarket.
With the support of Sophie you will work in pairs to create:
- Seitan "Duck" pancakes
- Seitan Korean crispy "chicken"
- Carrot lox "smoked salmon" blinis
Dietary information: The menu for this class is vegan and involves cooking with nuts, seeds and gluten. For any other allergies or dietary requirements, please contact us to discuss before booking.
