The Guthrie Center seeks to cultivate cultural preservation, promote educational achievement and foster community outreach to meet the ongoing needs of the community.
Founded in 1991 by Arlo Guthrie to honor the legacy of his parents, Woody Guthrie and Marjorie Mazia-Guthrie. The Guthrie Center offers interfaith services and spiritual exchange. Bringing individuals together for cultural, educational, and spiritual exchange. We work together with other non-profit agencies to serve those in need. In doing so we hope to create an environment where individuals can come together to cultivate a deeper awareness of culture, humanity and the environment of which we are all a part.

Join us Saturday October 19th for a Free Pumpkin Carving Event being held by our very own, Faith Wehner!
Faith has been carving pumpkins for the John F.X. Keator Memorial Pumpkin Walk, held annually at the Washington Town Park, for the last 17 years. She has generously agreed to conduct a free event here at the Guthrie Center. If you are looking for tips and tricks, or just a fun seasonal activity, join us to learn how to elevate your pumpkin carving game!
Please take note of the following before attending this event:
- Any attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Attendees will need to sign a liability waiver before beginning the workshop.
- Only carvers need to RSVP for the workshop adults supervising children do not need to RSVP.
- If you would like to bring your own pumpkin, you can take it home the same day. If you do bring your own, please try to have it gutted from the bottom beforehand. If you choose to use one of our provided pumpkins, you can pick it up after The Pumpkin Walk at the Washington Town Park on Friday, October 25th where you can see your own work on display!
- Carving supplies will be provided unless you prefer to bring your own.
- Marker and paint will be supplied for individuals who are uncomfortable using sharp tools.
- A variety of stencils will be available for different skill levels.

Washington Town Park Rt. 8 in Washington, MA 01223
Trick or Treat will take place from 6:30pm to 7:30 pm.
There will be hay rides, a bonfire, and plenty of carved jack-o’-lanterns. Hot cider, hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza and more will be served for free in the gazebo.
