Description

These Rhode Island History Day Workshops are for any student who plans on competing in Rhode Island History Day 2025 and would like to learn more about the resources available, research methods, writing techniques and creativity that make up a successful RIHD project.

Rhode Island History Day, an affiliate of National History Day, is a highly regarded curriculum enhancement program for students in grades 6-12 where students choose historical topics related to an annual theme and conduct extensive primary and secondary research through libraries, archives, museums, oral history interviews, and historic sites. The state contest is held in the spring and National Qualifiers are encouraged to compete in June at the National History Day competition in Washington D.C. The 2025 National History Day theme is Rights and Responsibilities in History

Each session will focus on a theme and feature a short presentation. This presentation will be followed by a period of guided study in which students can work on their projects alongside the guidance and assistance of a museum educator.

Students are encouraged to bring any study materials they may need including but not limited to a laptop, tablet or similar device, notebook, pens and previously collected research materials.
