Description

Join us to learn more about the continual struggle to expand voting rights throughout Rhode Island history. Topics will include Thomas Wilson Dorr and the push for broader suffrage, Newport Gardner and other advocates’ ongoing struggle for civil rights in Rhode Island, and the efforts of Maud Howe Elliott and others in the pursuit of women’s suffrage. The workshop will emphasize the importance of voting as a major form of civic engagement. 

Free lessons, resources, a letter for 1 1/2 hours of professional development points, and a $100 stipend will be provided for all educators attending.
