Description

The Runner Stumbles was the last film directed by the great Stanley Kramer and it was filmed largely in Roslyn. It’s a 1979 American drama directed and produced by Kramer who insisted that it premiered in the Northwest.  It was filmed in Ellensburg and Roslyn with The Brick prominently featured as “The Bearded Nail”. Many locals were featured in the film and it was a big deal around town.  It Premiered in Sept of 1979 at the Seattle Opera House.  Over the years the Roslyn Theatre has played it from time to time and we actually have the original print of it. Stanley Kramer himself was regarded as one of the best directors of his time and also directed and produced The Wild One which is depicted on our mural on the back of the building.  It all ties together neatly so we are pleased to be able to play this.  RoslynLiving.com has rented the theatre and will be providing their own copy of the film. Ticket sales will be donations and support the Roslyn, Ronald & Cle Elum Heritage Club. We were able to dig out copies of memorabilia from the film and will have it on display for the showing. We invite you to come in and enjoy seeing your neighbors on film along with Dick Van Dyke and even Beau Bridges. See if you can spot a familiar face or place!

About the film:

Father Rivard is a priest in a small, economically depressed coal mining town. Working on what he thinks is a "controversial" work, he lives with the brutal lives of his poor parishioners, the old, unfriendly nuns in the nearby convent, and his own self doubts. Rated PG
