Bio: Jan Boettcher began her journey into the Norwegian folk art of rosemaling in 1980, inspired by her grandmother's family from the Valdres Valley of Norway. With a belief in maintaining traditional techniques while adding her own unique interpretations, Jan aims to promote interest in this rich art form. She has studied with both Norwegian and American teachers, painting around 12 different styles of rosemaling. Jan has won numerous awards and has had her work published in several art magazines. She teaches private rosemaling lessons in her home studio in Thorntown, Indiana, where she and her husband also operate Turn of the Century Wood Products, supplying unfinished wood products to decorative artists worldwide.
