Description

This fun session will take you on an okra journey like no other. James Beard Award-winning author, Chris Smith of the Utopian Seed Project, will lead an exploration of the whole okra plant, from seed to stem. If you already love okra then it's time to up your okra game, and if you think you don't like okra then you've just never tried mokra chocolate cake, okra kimchi, or okra seed oil.

Attendees will sample bites and sips of okra-based delights. Come with an open mind and mouth and join us for the whole okra experience!

Pay-What-You-Can Tickets are an offering designed to increase access to the Festival for folks in any financial situation. If you are able to support our work by purchasing a ticket in any amount, we appreciate it. Suggested donation is $25-50.

Chow Chow's mission is to celebrate and enrich the unique foodways of the Southern Appalachian region. Chow Chow Food + Culture Festival is the organization's flagship annual event, held every year on the weekend after Labor Day. In 2023 we will gather September 7-10th to eat, drink, and be merry while we explore the themes of Cultivating, Preserving, Collborating, and Innovating with a robust line-up of presenters.
