Want to find out more about the what may be the world’s best known “secret” event? The Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash of the 1970s was a thing of legend. The brainchild of writer Brock Yates, it was run four times from 1971 to 1979 and the goal was to drive from New York City to Redondo Beach, CA as quickly and as unnoticed as possible.
It inspired a series of feature films [MORE] and revived as an individual challenge in 2006, various record attempts have been made.
We will hear from two people with direct experience with the Cannonball- Bill Warner, photographer, racer and founder of the Amelia Island Concours was an entrant in the 1970s. Doug Tabbutt, enthusiast and car dealer is a multiple and current record holder.
