Sketch Writing 101

Description

Our Sketch Writing 101 class covers the important essentials for developing and writing original sketch scenes. In class, students will experience both solo and collaborative exercises. Brainstorming, comedic structure, and character development are just a few of the techniques you will learn to use in your sketch writing. Here you will discover the art of generating ideas, crafting compelling stories, and creating hilarious characters, all while mastering the art of punchlines and dialogue. For each class, students will write and submit sketches, then receive feedback, guidance and encouragement to rework and revise. Each of these steps will take students toward their goal of creating the most ideal sketch.

No prior writing or comedy experience is necessary.

Location - We will meet at ImprovCity, then we will walk next door to Main Street Men's Clothing where class will be held.

Devin Dugan

Instructor Bio:
Devin Dugan is a master of sketch comedy. He has written & produced numerous sketch comedy shows over his 30+ year comedy career, including several sketch show runs on the Second City Hollywood Main Stage. He is also a 14 time published book author and an international award-winning screenwriter. 

 

Note: Minimum of 6 registered attendees needed in order for class to proceed. Class capacity is 12.
