Description
This Skill Sunday will present a few options for hand winding your hanks of yarn when you don’t have a swift or winder available. Swifts and yarn winders can be hefty financial investments, and while most yarn shops (including us) are happy to wind your purchases for you, sometimes you’re left to do it yourself.
In this one day class, we will explore different methods of winding yarn into usable cakes and balls using easily available tools you might find at home, as well as some traditional hand winding tools, such as the nostepinne (NOS-tuh-PIN-nuh).
Materials: Students should bring an empty toilet paper or paper towel roll, as well as a small selection of scrap yarns to practice winding in class.
