Description

Overview: Paddle through the largest stand of rocky shoals spider lilies in the world! These plants are native to the Southeastern US and are truly a sight to behold when in full bloom between mid-May and early June. You won't want to miss this beautiful paddle and walk! Once the 2-mile paddle through the shoals is complete, the group will walk back through Landsford Canal State Park's well-preserved remains of the canal system, which made the river commercially navigable in the 1800s.

Location: This adventure will take place at Landsford Canal State Park in Catawba, SC. We'll meet at the upper river access (2051 Park Dr, Catawba, SC 29704) and begin our paddle here. The group will paddle downstream through the spider lilies, take out, and then hike back up to the parking lot. Boats and gear will be shuttled back.

Cost: Spider Lily Eco-Tour Tickets are $75 and include boat and gear rental. There is also a $6/person entry fee for Landsford Canal State Park that can be paid in cash upon arrival or ahead of time online.

Difficulty & Experience Level: This paddle will have small rapids in a shallow rocky environment. While beginners are welcome, this outing is best suited for intermediate paddlers.

Other Event Information:  You are welcome to keep lunch in your car to enjoy at the park when we get back to our starting location. Bathrooms are available near the put-in location.
