Spirit Song Festival: Alan Syliboy Artist Talk
Join us for an enlightening engagement at the Spirit Song Festival. This year, we are honored to host a special artist talk with the celebrated artist, Alan Syliboy.
Alan Syliboy, a member of the Millbrook First Nation (Truro, Nova Scotia), is an artist of exceptional talent and vision. His work is influenced by the ancient petroglyphs and the indigenous Mi'kmaq rock drawing tradition, and he has developed a personal symbolism and colour palette that speak to wider themes of interconnectedness and the sacredness of nature.
Immerse yourself in a captivating discussion about Syliboy's artistic journey, his inspirations, and his vibrant works that have captured the hearts of art lovers worldwide. This event is a unique opportunity to gain deeper insight into the creative process and the power of art in indigenous storytelling. Alan will read from his new book, When The Owl Calls Your Name.
Marjorie Muise will offer an opening prayer and Phillip Muise will perform an opening song. Books and other merchandise will be available for purchase. The event will be held at The Birch, a charming venue nestled in the heart of St. John's, Newfoundland. Its warm and inviting atmosphere creates an ideal setting for this inspiring event.
Don't miss this extraordinary chance to connect with the artistic community and learn from one of the most distinguished artists of our time. We look forward to welcoming you to the Spirit Song Festival: Alan Syliboy Artist Talk.
