Stacey Spain, exceptional local theatre artist and Executive Director of Our Center is Brüka Theatre’s Playwright In Residence for the 2024/25 season. Stacey’s work Crazy F*&%ing Kincaids will be workshopped and presented to audiences on April 4, 5 at 7:30 PM and April 6 for a 2 PM matinee. Originally produced at Brüka’s Biggest Little Theater Festival in 2020 this new edition is a full length play with two additional characters. A dreamscape that explores the cost of betrayal and the power of love. A brother and sister discovering secrets and learning to trust after a death in the family. Sometimes truth is not the kindest option. Language and themes make this an ADULT PERFORMANCE.
Reno, NV: The 2024/24 Season at Bruka Theatre includes creating space for Stacey Spain, our 2024/25 Playwright in Residence to have the time and space to continue her play - The Kincaid’s. Originally created in 2017 and shown at the BIGGEST little Theatre Festival.
THE STORY: The Kincaids is a dreamscape that explores the cost of betrayal and the power of love. When parents June and Elliot fail to protect their children from each other and the truth they created together, a brother and sister discover secrets and learn to trust after a death in the family. Sometimes truth is not the kindest option. Grace and James have come home to settle their Mother June’s estate and put her to rest. Before they can, they also have to deal with childhood loss and the results of their present choices. Recommended: 16 years and up. Get your tickets early!
ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Stacey Spain is an actor, director, and playwright who taught theater at TMCC and UNR. Holding an M.F.A. in theater from Purdue University’s Professional Actor Training Program, she has directed at Bruka Theater, Reno Little Theater and recently completed works Queen of Sunshine Mountain and Killarney Sabbatical. Spain continues to explore a family centered landscape in her writing.

All Brüka mainstage evening shows begin at 7:30 PM. Matinees begin at 2:00 PM. Doors open 30 minutes before curtain time. There is NO late seating and all ticket sales are final.
PARKING
We suggest convenient parking in the Court Street parking lot across from The Pioneer Theater and walking across the new Virginia Street Bridge to Brüka, FREE after 5:00 PM and all day Saturday and Sundays. We also validate parking at the Parking Gallery on First and Sierra Street. The Downtown Ambassadors are present before and after performances for guidance and safety.
