Description
This is the local Star Wars Unlimited Store Showdown event at the New Horizon Mall.
It will be located on the 2nd floor (near Food Court) (main floor South end near the window).
This will be a formal constructed deck tournament for up to 24 or 32 players. Each player will be required to bring a single, minimum 50 card deck that they will use for the entire tournament (no changes or substitutions permitted). Though a deck list is not mandatory, it is suggested that each player prepare one. These will not be shared or inspected by other players or the judge, but will help with planning for the event.
* Unfortunately, buying and selling is not permitted in the play area.
Depending on the number of participants, there will be up to 5 rounds 25 minutes for Best of 1 with the final rounds to complete semi-final and final. Top 4 games will be Best of 3.
Please review the most current version of the Tournament Rules document to determine rules expectations for ties and long games (as often occurs with Control mirrors). Preliminary matches are expected to be determined by damage to bases. when time runs out.
Unless the new tournament pairing system is ready before then, the existing TEC will be used. It is important to keep in mind that the pairing system will determine the top 8 using it's algorithm for more than wins vs losses, but factoring who won/loss against who else to determine the ranking. Past experience has a substantial number who have similar win/loss records after the preliminary games and there will not be enough time for additional play-off rounds to determine those who are ranked 5 to 8. The top 4 will play off for single elimination rounds to get to finalists and championship.
Prizes (Twilight of the Republic Boosters) are:
1st place - 10 boosters
2nd place - 6 boosters
3rd/4th place - 2 boosters
5th-8th place - 1 booster
There are designated Showdown promo award cards () for top 8 with additional promo cards for top 4, top 2, and Champion and a specific number of Shadow of the Galaxy boosters depending on their final results.
All participants (including top 8) will receive the Showdown promo card () and either 1 Weekly Twilight of the Republic of the Galaxy OP booster (or a regular booster, depending on availability).
