Sharpen your audition and performance skills by working directly with the people behind the table in this three-class series. Workshop your audition, the acting of the song, and gain insight on what they are looking for in each audition.
Learn from some of the best casting directors from Broadway, Off Broadway, National Tours and Regional Theaters and Cruise Lines. Each week you will perform your audition cuts for, and be coached by a notable Casting Director.
Instructors and Dates:
- Week 1 (Thursday Sept 12th, 7pm) with GEOFF JOSSELSON (Geoff Josselson Casting, etc)
- Week 2 (Thursday Sept 19th, 7pm) with XAVIER RUBIANO (Tara Rubin Casting)
- Week 3 (Thursday Sept 26th, 7pm) with BOB CLINE (Cline Casting)
Class will begin each week at 7pm and each student will work one-on-one with the instructor on cuts of audition songs or monologues in a classroom setting. Each class will also include a short Q&A, information on the intricacies of the casting process and insight on what the auditioner can do to stand out.
All classes will be held at Open Jar Studios, 1601 Broadway, 11th Floor
Under the direction of Artistic Director, Jeff Whiting, Open Jar’s Professional Class Series provides unique opportunities for performers to continue to hone their skills and work one-on-one with Broadway’s best stars, directors, composers, agents, and casting directors.

Geoff Josselson - Casting Director/Owner of Geoff Josselson Casting and Casting Director for The Telsey Office. Xavier Rubiano, CSA (he/him/his) joined Tara Rubin Casting in August 2016 as a Casting Assistant and is now a Casting Director for TRC since June 2021. Xavier was born and raised in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York and is a proud first generation Colombian American. Xavier attended Frank Sinatra School of the Arts, founded by Tony Bennett, in Astoria, Queens with a major in Dance and a minor in Musical Theater. He went on to get his BFA in Musical Theater at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC & LA. He started his casting career in 2011 where he had his first internship at Clemmons/Dewing Casting. He continued to assist Joy Dewing when she started her new business, Joy Dewing Casting, as a monitor at her open calls and she brought him on as an apprentice in 2013. He became her Casting Assistant in 2014. Xavier has also interned at Stewart/Whitley and apprenticed at their office in May of 2016. For TRC, Xavier has cast the Broadway Productions of Dear Evan Hansen, The Phantom Of The Opera, Bob Fosse's Dancin, Here Lies Love and The Outsiders. Xavier is a proud member of the Casting Society. He is the recipient of the 2022 Artios Associate Spotlight Award and has been nominated for three competitive Artios Awards.
Bob Cline has cast film, TV, commercials, over 70 national tours, and hundreds of regional theatre productions across the country. Bob's casting credits include: The National Tours of Memphis, Shrek, Young Frankenstein, Beauty and the Beast, Oliver, Annie, Bye Bye Birdie, Hairspray, Rent, Drowsy Chaperone, Full Monty, Cabaret, Complete Works of William Shakespeare, 39 Steps, Music Man, Oklahoma, Showboat, Victor-Victoria, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and others. Regionally, Bob has had his hands in casting shows at over 30 LORT Theaters, including, The Fulton Theatre, Maltz-Jupiter Theatre, Northern Stage, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, St. Louis Repertory Theatre, The Longwharf, The Pioneer Theatre Company, The Olney, Merrimack Rep., Cumberland County Playhouse, Theatre By The Sea, Arkansas Rep., The Marriott Lincolnshire, and many more. Bob had the pleasure of directing Betty Buckley, Tuc Watkuns, Christy Carlson Romano, Martha Plimpton, Jason Kravits, and Elaine Stritch in Ben Andron's White's Lies both at the Jerry Orbach Theatre in NYC and Off-Broadway at New World Stages.
