Who are we?
Communication By Captivation is both an in-person and online community of multimedia artists (from cartoonists to live performers) working together to create deeply meaningful storytelling.

You may have seen some of CBC’s recent Austin theater productions: Frank’s Life, Glengarry Glen Ross, A Christmas Carol Against Humanity, and Peter Pan Against Humanity.

We welcome all those willing to challenge themselves to develop their ability to captivate the heart and soul of an audience; collaborate to tell stories bigger than any one person could; and through it all, have fun! We are completely self-and-patron funded and do not accept government grants.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please send an email to: Communicationbycaptivation@gmail.com

We can’t wait to see you at:

Meet the Cast of Sterwurs Against Humanity!

Ellie Follis as Loose Seatwetter

Ellie Follis grew up performing in theatre in Seguin, Texas, but is excited to put Cards Against Humanity in the mix as Loose Seatwetter in Sterwurs Against Humanity! She is glad to be working with CBC again, as it was fun to be part of the voice cast for The Pits Below. She can't wait to make the audience laugh with this hilarious show!

David Lampe as Obi-Bong Kenabis

Lampe has been a mainstay of Austin improv theater for 30 years. He recently performed in Spy Another Day and The Recently Deceased—improv shows based upon, respectively, 60's James Bond movies and the films of Tim Burton. He was also featured in CBC's production of Glengarry Glen Ross and is pleased to be returning as Ob-Bong Kenabis in the world premiere of Sterwurs Against Humanity.

Bella “Nic” Justis as Hand Solo

Bella Justis (Hand Solo) is super excited to be doing their second show in a row with CBC. You may have seen Bella recently in Seussical the Musical with Birchwood, A Doll’s House with Stage Presence Players, and Peter Pan Against Humanity with CBC. They would love to thank their director, cast, and their little car Bumble Bee.

Coach Vance Davis as Barkie McGrowl

Vance Davis, aka Coach, is an electronic engineer who worked in the field for 25 years. He has been working in education for about 17 years. Vance went to college to play tennis but quickly learned he was not going to be the next Roger Federer (darn it). This is his first time doing live theater in 50 years. He hopes you laugh until you cry at Sterwurs Against Humanity!

Jacob Meadows as Dark Daddy / Uncle Toastin'

In 2024, Jacob graduated from the University of Houston–Clear Lake with a bachelor's in psychology and a minor in sociology. His love for theater began in elementary school, performing as the lead role in multiple shows. In high school, he performed with his school's improv troupe and later rediscovered his love for theater in college with an 80s reimagining of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby. As a big fan of Star Wars, Jacob finds this show a great opportunity, loving every minute, and hopes that his involvement in this production will help further his journey in the theater arts.

Eliza Carey as Princess Leaky

Eliza Carey, originally hatched from an iridescent egg in Bozrah, CT, is a poet, singer, actor, and improv enthusiast with three years of experience making things up on the spot (professionally). Her performance journey began early with one-woman shows for her family that could last for hours—true required viewing. She was named Most Valuable Player at the inaugural Rise Comedy Cup in Denver and has been riding that high ever since. After her sketch debut at Flipside Theatre this winter in Colorado, she was officially bitten by the performance bug and dove headfirst into Austin’s theater scene.

With a penchant for parody songwriting and developing clown bits, Eliza is certifiably “technically funny.” She is thrilled to be part of Sterwurs Against Humanity and can’t wait to show you all what she’s got in store!

John Rodgers as Director, Sound & Lighting Tech, and  the dorids Cyee-P and Queef2

John is a traveling English and theater teacher from New Hampshire who brings his storytelling passion and technical expertise to the production as Director, Light & Sound Tech, and the droids, Cyee-P & Queef2

As the founder of Communication By Captivation LLC, John is dedicated to crafting immersive experiences, from live theater to animated content. With a rich background in the performing arts, he’s excited to blend his creative vision with the show’s chaotic hilarity. Get ready for a wild ride—John’s making sure it looks and sounds spectacular!
