Surprise Package Quartet
Surprise Package is a part of Sweet Adelines International.
Founded in 1945, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sweet Adelines started as a small group of women who loved to sing. Since then, it has evolved into an organization that spans the globe, connecting nearly 21,000 singers around the world in song.
Our music is performed a’cappella in the barbershop style.
A’capella refers to choral singing performed without instruments. The expression means “in chapel style”. Barbershop vocal harmony, as codified during the barbershop revival era (1930s–present), is made up of unaccompanied close chords.
Barbershop harmony is generally considered to be one of the few uniquely American-born musical styles, alongside jazz, with which it shares origins. The simplest definition of barbershop centers around: relatively simple melodies, sung in four-part harmony, without instruments (a cappella)
Surprise Package is a part of the Harmony Hills Chorus based in the Birmingham area. Surprise Package enjoys entertaining and educating audiences about a’capella music in the Barbershop Style
