Description
Parent and child survival workshop ages 8-12. Ticket admits one child and one parent.
Explore the woods in the company of your child and likeminded families.
Farm founder Kevin spent his formative years living in his Indigenous community in the jungle of Nicaragua, from a very early age hunting for food with his uncles, learning to read subtle signs in the environment around him to survive. He spent much of his adult life practicing and teaching survival skills to young people.
The course includes nature awareness, knife safety, discussion and demonstration of water and food sources and fire building and safety.
During knife segment kids will whittle shavings for kindling (and make a marshmallow roasting stick).
Fire building is a wonderful team building exercise for children to work together to collect firewood and brush, build a series of fires. Kids are encouraged to discuss and identify what works best.
Survival skills are valuable on their own and make the perfect platform to encourage confidence and self-reliance all the while supporting teamwork. forging bonds between parent and child as well as with their fellow students.
Wrap up with a bonfire and s’mores kit (you’d never know it’s vegan!).
Once you sign up you will receive an email with a minimal materials list you will need to bring.
