Description

Join us for a lecture and discussion with Orange Audubon Society's Deborah Green.

Deborah Green, Orange Audubon Society President and native plant advocate, promotes an idea from well-known author Dr. Doug Tallamy in his books Bringing Nature Home and Nature's Best Hope. Tallamy estimates that only 5% of the U.S. is in parks and preserves, 41% is in agriculture, and 54% is urban/suburban. Converting the 54% to better habitat is the impetus to plant natives in our own landscapes and create the "Homegrown National Park”. Join us for this presentation to learn practical ways you can do to help create habitat for birds and other wildlife in your own backyard.

The Gallery will be open at 5pm for attendees to preview Natural Florida: Art by Emma Sears Marsh & Joy Postle prior to the lecture at 6pm in Capen House.
