Hear Radford University guitar director Robert Trent in concert!

(NOTE: This concert is presented as part of the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Guitar Workshop in association with the Greater Cincinnati Guitar Society. Non-participants can purchase concert tickets. Concert admittance is included for participants of the CCM Workshop. Registration for the CCM Workshop is available HERE)

 

Dr. Trent will perform on two 19th century guitars, including an original instrument made by Gennaro Fabricatore in 1803 and a 10-string guitar after Scherzer of 1856.

A recording artist for Dorian Records© (with Duo Firenze) in “Italian Nocturnes: Music for Fortepiano and Early 19thc. Guitar” he is also featured on the new CD “Traveler’s Tales” Capstone/TownHall Records (CPS-8776) in works by American Composer Byron Petty and on third CD with flutist Leslie Marrs on the Oasis label, entitled, “Robert Fruehwald: Flute and Guitar Music", and a newly released recording on the Archlute, entitled "Concerts Royeaux" on the Epiphany label.

 

Robert Trent has performed on the continents of North and South America and in Europe on modern guitar, Renaissance lute, and historic instruments of the nineteenth-century in particular the 10-string Scherzer and authentic 19thc. guitars.

A first prize winner in numerous National and International competitions including; the Webb National Guitar Competition, the Masterworks Young Artist Competition (for all instruments) and the chamber music prize at the International Competition “Arturo Toscanini” in Italy in Period Instrumental performance.

GCGS

The Greater Cincinnati Guitar Society was founded in 1959 by Warren E. Coffey. It is currently headed by Sarah Wilke. The GCGS hosts both internationally-lauded concert artists as well as regional performers. We feature regular meetings for members as well as the Bravo members' guitar ensemble. Charter members included: George J. Marks, R.J. Di Salvo, Juanita Coffey,Dr. Mathias Vega, Wayne Gatwood and Raymond Hopmann. Past Presidents and prime movers of the Society include: Bob Mercer, Garrett Curtis, Judy Handler, Rodney Stucky, Renee Odom, Richard Goering, Amy Brucksch among many others.
