Description

Presented by Fright Fest:

This seminar and discussion will look at how the horror genre has evolved from its original inception as an off-shoot of Gothic literature in the late 1700's into the many sub-genre choices available today like supernatural horror, psychological horror, survivor horror, and splatterpunk, to name a few that now exist across a multitude of media types.

This overview will focus on the consistent literary components of the horror story (setting, character, plot, pacing) and how they have been modified over time to accommodate the ever-changing dynamics of fear in a society constantly inventing new things for us to be afraid of.

Bring along your reading glasses, a bucket of stale popcorn, and your most trusted emotional support piece because we are about to get messy and uncomfortable in the best way possible!
