Description

The Fugitives

Vancouver-based folk band The Fugitives have released six records, which have been nominated for a JUNO for Best Traditional Roots Album, as well multiple Canadian Folk Music Awards and Western Canadian Music Awards, including Best Roots Album, Best Songwriter, and Best Vocal Group.

Their new record, No Help Coming, tackles the climate crisis. The Georgia Straight called it "uplifting and beautiful", and the Vancouver Sun said "far from being a sonic downer, the new material looks at global and personal grappling with the big issues." Their previous album The Promise of Strangers, won the German Music Critic's Association Award for Best Folk Album of 2019. Their 2013 album, Everything Will Happen, spent ten weeks on the top ten Canadian folk charts, and earned them support slots across Western Canada with Buffy Sainte-Marie and an appearance at UK’s Glastonbury Festival.

The band has earned a reputation for unforgettable live shows, brimming with complex harmonies, infectious storytelling, and top-notch musicianship. As the CBC has it: "This show is simply brilliant."
