School is out for the summer, and 8-year-old Sheila is in for the adventure of a lifetime! Join Sheila and her friends on a daredevilish, whirlwind of a quest through the desert and a glorious pile of junk to defeat the Sting Brigade, the Council of Howls, the Death Cactus, and more. "The Girl Who Swallowed a Cactus" by Eric Coble is a 60-minute mystical and magical twist on traditional storytelling best for ages five and up.
Join us 45 minutes before showtime for a free craft (to be used during the show!), and stick around after the performance to get autographs from the performers. Don't forget to pick up your free Post-Show Packet filled with coloring pages, questions for the car ride home, and more!

Performances will be held at Ballantyne Auditorium on Kirkwood Community College’s campus, located at 6301 Kirkwood Blvd SW, Cedar Rapids. Enter campus at the southwest entrance, at the corner of Kirkwood Blvd. SW and Tower Rd. SW. Travel east on Tower Rd. SW, and take a left to stay on Tower Rd. SW as it continues northeast into campus. You will see ample parking and a building marked “Ballantyne Auditorium.”
From there, you will be inside Iowa Hall in an entrance area near an Information Desk and Coffee Shop. Head straight to a set of downward stairs, and take those stairs directly down to the Ballantyne Auditorium entrance on the right.
