The Hometown Show is back on Sunday, November 19th at 6:30pm and we have got a special two-for-one for you! Neomi and Reuben Negron, Asheville’s nationally heralded ice pop queen and internationally renowned painter power couple!
Neomi Negron will say she is a jack of many trades, a master of none. But we beg to differ. Neomi wears many hats; mother, dog mom, wife, owner and founder of Asheville’s acclaimed ice pop maker, Buggy Pops! She’s also a Chow Chow Board Member. To say that Neomi's love language is food is to greatly understate the situation.
Her partner, Reuben Negrón, is an American figurative realist best known for his narrative watercolor paintings and charcoal drawings. Rooted in the examination of his own life experiences, as well as those of the people and places he depicts, Negron’s work is defined by its richly detailed and vulnerable scenes, often grounded in themes of identity, memory, and intimacy. All of that is art school talk that basically confirms that Reuben is an internationally renowned artist having exhibited in Paris and New York City just to name a few!
At The Hometown Show, we love couples because that means we get to talk about twice the hometowns which will yield twice the stories which of course gives our three improv troupes a lot to play with! Like we always do, we’re going to get Neomi and Reuben up on stage at Asheville Pizza & Brewing Co. on Merrimon and find out about where they come from. Then, like we always do, we'll have three hysterical local improv troupes — Ginger By Association, 1-800-FLIPFLOPS and Queer Bears — take their answers and turn them into improv comedy magic; all made up on the spot!
