Sometimes shocking, sometimes deranged, always funny. Step into THE HOTHOUSE, a uniquely suspenseful improv comedy show that pokes, prods, and stretches reality until it verges on the surreal. Inspired by the comedies of Harold Pinter and the Coen Brothers, The Hothouse creates comedy that you can laugh at and and take seriously.

MEET THE PLAYERS:

LEEANN PEPPERS is a self-taught interdisciplinary artist and performer native to Athens, GA. Over the past five years her use of traditional two and three dimensional mediums has expanded to include experimental and avant-garde music, film, and soundscape design. A selection of published audio and video pieces can be found on her YouTube and bandcamp channels.

MATT HOUSE is a comedian and writer who has called Athens home since 2019. Originally from East Alabama, Matt teaches improv part time and has a stressful corporate job full time. He’s currently working on a screenplay about a mean old lady.

Longtime Athenian BRADLEY BAZZLE is the author of the novel Trash Mountain and the short-story collection Fathers of Cambodian Time-Travel Science. A native of Dallas, Texas, he used to do improv and sketch comedy at the UCB and PIT theaters in New York City as well as at festivals around the country.

JADE FERNANDEZ is leaving Athens, unfortunately. You may have seen her on your TV—probably crying. She's trained in long and short form improv with Relapse Theater, High Wire Comedy under Amanda Rountree and Ian Covell, and now Flying Squid. She loves to read.

Hothouse will open with a stand-up set performed by MAGGIE COLLETTE: Improv and comedy performer of 2 years and working their way into stand up! Maggie studies set construction and design at the Georgia Film Academy and enjoys writing screen plays. In their free time they are a lover of plants and a handyman to those who are willing to take a risk!

 

After the show we'll be performing a Goodbye ASSSSCAT with our beloved monologist Jade Fernandez, who is moving away from Athens. We'll miss you!
