Description

Sunday, September 24 at 6pm

Alfred Hitchcock had already directed two films before The Lodger, but it is commonly called referred to as "the first Alfred Hitchcock picture." It’s generally recognized as the film where he found his voice and is considered his most underrated films.

This atmospheric silent thriller tells the tale of a mysterious young man who moves into a London boardinghouse at the time where a killer known as The Avenger begins terrorizing the city, preying on blonde women. The film is based on the 1913 novel The Lodger by Marie Belloc Lowndes and the play Who Is He? co-written by Belloc Lowndes, inspired by the Jack the Ripper murders.

Watch for Hitchcock’s first cameos as an extra in the newsroom and standing in the crowd during an arrest.

Door open at 5pm, film at 6pm with discussion immediately following the movie.

Tickets $10 in advance, $12 at the door.
