Virginia Youth Ballet presents The Sleeping Beauty ballet.
A long time ago in a far-off land lived a king and queen who desperately wanted a child. Overjoyed at the birth of their daughter, Aurora, they throw a grand party to celebrate her, and instruct Catalabutte to send the invitations. Catalabutte invites all the fairies of the land, but purposely does not invite Carabosse, the wicked fairy. The day of the party, all the fairies give their blessings to Aurora, and just before the Lilac fairy is able to impart her blessing, Carabosse and her wretches burst onto the scene and curse Aurora to her death from the prick of a spinning wheel. The Lilac fairy, in her wisdom, uses her blessing to lesson the curse from death to a deep sleep, only to be awakened by true love. Events transpire as foretold, and with the guidance of the fairies, the Prince finds Aurora and breaks the spell. A grand wedding ensues, celebrating Aurora and her Prince to live happily ever after.
Homeschool tickets will be available for $5 per person.
Performances will be held:
Friday, September 29, 2023 at 9:00 am, 11:00am, & 1:00pm
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the performance. The performance will last approximately 1- 1 1/2 hours. Balcony or on the floor seating is available to homeschoolers.
