The class will cover all aspects of the audition process – choosing material, how to dress, what to say, creating the resume, what’s a good headshot, etc. including a fairly comprehensive list of do’s and don’ts (mostly don’ts). Participants should bring a picture and resume and be ready with two contrasting 32 bar cuts for one-on-one coaching in a classroom setting. The class will also include a Q&A,.

Monday January 29, 7pm with Ed Flesch, Artistic Director, Fireside Theater
Open Jar Studios, 1601 Broadway, 11th Floor. Class will begin at 7pm and each student will work one-on-one with the instructor on cuts of audition songs or monologues in a classroom setting. Each class will also include a short Q&A, information on the intricacies of the casting process and insight on what the auditioner can do to stand out.
Under the direction of Artistic Director, Jeff Whiting, Open Jar’s Professional Class Series provides unique opportunities for performers to continue to hone their skills and work one-on-one with Broadway’s best stars, directors, composers, agents, and casting directors.
BIO:
Ed Flesch - Ed is the Artistic Director of the Fireside Theatre, an Equity theatre in Fort Atkinson, WI, where he has produced and directed over 120 productions of Broadway musicals, plays, and original musical revues. In addition he has directed almost all of the major American musicals throughout the US in such theatres as Country Dinner Playhouse (Denver), La Comedia Theatre (Dayton), The Little Theatre on the Square (Sullivan, IL), and The Chateau Theatre (Chicago). He is also an actor/singer and an award winning writer/director of musicals, revues, and children’s theatre. Combining his talents as writer, director, and producer in 2000 he conceived, produced and directed Madison, Wisconsin’s first ever performing arts benefit for AIDS. As a casting director he auditions over 1500 Equity and non-Equity actors every year in New York and Chicago.
