This event is presented by the Filson Historical Society in partnership with The Lionel Hampton Jazz Project.

Join the Filson Historical Society and The Lionel Hampton Jazz Project for a holiday concert led by internationally recognized jazz vibraphonist Dick Sisto. Sisto has performed and recorded with numerous world class jazz professionals. His trio was the house band for the Seelbach Jazz Bar where they played with jazz greats including Dave Brubeck drummer Joe Morello, vocalist Kevin Mahogany, pianist Fred Hersch, bassist Rufus Reid, saxophonist David “fathead” Newman and many others. Currently he is the jazz vibe teacher at the University Of Louisville School Of Music and the author of The Jazz Vibraphone Book.

Singing the music of Johnny Hartman will be Owsley Brown III, executive producer of the Lionel Hampton Jazz Project and a longtime collaborator with Dick Sisto. Brown’s love, passion and ear for jazz has in recent years come to a fruition of developing a beautiful and unique jazz voice.

They will also be joined by: Jeremy Allen, bassist, is the assistant Dean of Music at Indiana University Jacob School of Music where he was the jazz bass professor and continues in that role as well. He was on the NYC jazz scene for several years where he worked and recorded with jazz icons trumpeter Kenny Wheeler and trombonist Bob Brookmeyer among many others. Jeremy is also a proficient classical bassist.

This concert will also highlight and feature two young and talented up and coming musicians. On saxophone will be Jeremy Lanas, a tenor saxophonist from Nashville, TN. As a High School student there he was often the featured soloist in various ensembles. He is a sophomore jazz performance major at the University of Louisville where he is featured as a soloist in the 1st Big Band.

On drums will be Chicago native Frank Morrison. He was a member of the Best of Chicago HS Jazz Quintet and worked with some of the very best Chicago jazz professionals. He is currently a freshman at the University of Louisville and a music performance major studying with Louisville native and internationally famous jazz drummer Mike Hyman who has appeared on other LHJP concerts.
