If you’re ready to take your rosemaling skills to the next level, this is the class for you. Learn to paint beautiful transparent Telemark quickly using minimal colors, and adding finger-painted flowers for extra flair. In the second half of the class, you'll focus on lining the scrolls and flowers, applying precision to enhance your overall design. All painting will be done freehand, offering a true test of your skills. Working on prepared practice boards, you’ll have plenty of hands-on opportunities to experiment with transparency techniques. This is your chance to explore Transparent Telemark in depth and elevate your rosemaling artistry to new heights!

Your instructor:
Bio: Tonya Mandy grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota, and began rosemaling in 2014 with no prior art background. In 2018, she was awarded a South Dakota Arts Council traditional arts apprenticeship with Judith Kjenstad, where she began freehand painting from old pieces. In 2020, Tonya received a fellowship from the American Scandinavian Foundation to study color and pigment in Norway with Anne Hesvik and in Minneapolis with Judith Kjenstad. In 2024, she earned her gold medal in rosemaling from Vesterheim.

Rosemaling Coast to Coast, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organized to celebrate the art of Norwegian rosemaling through a national organization that supports and enriches the artistic activities of the individual. Members study, paint, teach, and promote the love of rosemaling. The skillset is broad, from beginners to highly-skilled, award-winning artists.
