From the Laboratory to the Boardroom: Insights from a Successful Scientist & Entrepreneur
You are invited to join us for an insightful look at a successful entrepreneur's journey. Dr. Rahul Razdan, a UCF Innovate Ambassador, scientist, and serial entrepreneur, will share the story of his transition from scientist to CEO, leading startups from inception to acquisition. Hear how and why he made a cold call to Michael Dell, and it worked! Learn from his experience starting and growing WiPower, which Qualcomm acquired. (He will share copies of the book he wrote about that chapter of his journey.)
Dr. Rahul Razdan is a seasoned scientist and business executive with significant roles in academia, startups, and Fortune 500 companies. In corporate roles, he was the Senior Vice President of Strategy for Flextronics (FLEX), General Manager of the System and Functional Verification Business at Cadence Design Systems (CDNS), and Alpha CPU architect at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). He has successfully built successful startups in wireless power, machine learning, and low-power electronics design.
In academia, beyond an extensive range of worldwide collaborations, he maintains academic appointments at the University of Florida, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Tallen Institute of Technology, and the Institute for Human Machine Cognition. Today, he is CEO of Razdan Research Institute (razinstitute.com), a technology-based research institute that incubates ideas at the intersection of technology and society. Active projects for the institute include avvc.net in the area of autonomous vehicles, nextgenedu.net in the area of STEM education, and anew-da.ai in the area of EDA for long-life-cycle products. He has a BS (1984) and MS (1985) from CMU and a Ph.D. from Harvard University (1994).
