Join us for a special evening of Grateful Dead music as psychedelic jam band Uncle Charlie performs the historic Englishtown '77 show.
Over Labor Day weekend 1977, the Grateful Dead played a one-off gig at Englishtown, New Jersey’s Raceway Park that drew over 125,000 fans to the facility (in his book A Long Strange Trip, Dennis McNally estimates attendance as “more than 150,000”). Billed as the Summer’s End Concert, the performance on Saturday, September 3, 1977 was the group’s first show in nearly three months and also featured opening sets from the Marshall Tucker Band and New Riders of the Purple Sage.
Highlights from this all-around stellar show, which eventually was released as Dick’s Picks 15, include “The Music Never Stopped” to close the first set, the first “Truckin'” in over two years, and the first “Terrapin Station” since the release of the same name. “And now ladies and gentlemen, we’d like to play a little ditty from our newest album, at your record stores currently,” Phil Lesh said introducing the tune.
Uncle Charlie presents their take on this historic show, featuring Steve Fundy (guitar), Jason Sherbundy (keys), Dave Ojeda (bass), and Kristin Bolton (drums).
Doors at 5:30pm...Show 6:pm-9pm. Tickets are $12 in advance...$15 at the door (children 12 and under are free).
