Description

Jane’s Walk is an annual global festival of free, volunteer-led walks designed to generate conversation about the city and celebrate its vibrant past, present, and future. The festival honors Jane Jacobs, who was an urban activist, author, and believer in the power of citizens to make a difference in their city.

Guided Tour of the Atlanta BeltLine's Up-and-Coming Neighborhoods

Step into the urban evolution of Summerhill with Darin Givens, blogger behind ATL Urbanist, and learn about the city's first Bus Rapid Transit line, which is being built in an area south of Downtown that has experienced enormous change over the last century.

Once it was a leafy, walkable neighborhood centered on Washington Street, but it was entirely razed in the 1960s to make way for the interstates (20, 75, 85) and the Atlanta Fulton Stadium. Today, the street now known as Capitol Avenue/Hank Aaron Drive is not only host to an exciting new BRT line -- it's the center of an amazing amount of development, as a new neighborhood emerges where an old one was lost!

And it's a neighborhood that will now be served by an exciting type of transit that is new to Atlanta but well known (and highly successful) in other cities across the world.
