Where music, art and people come to play
Katherine Hughes / Kent Wehman / Ken Haebich / Neal Wehman
Celebrate Valentine’s month with your sweetheart and this amazing group of musicians—traditional Valentine’s tunes like Rodgers and Hart’s “My Funny Valentine” will be interspersed with fun tangos by Astor Piazolla and more!
The AcrossTheBoard Quartet is jazz-based, but also plays a range of music, as their name implies. The group came together through an annual Concert for Peace curated by violinist Katherine Hughes. Katherine is a versatile musician who is known for performing a wide variety of styles—classical, pop, jazz, folk. She has appeared on concert stages, in the orchestra pits of operas and Broadway musicals, on many recordings, and in numerous television productions as well. Kent Wehman has been an active freelance pianist in the Chicago area for the past forty years. He has performed with many types of groups playing jazz, pop, dance, and classical music in clubs, hotels, restaurants, and churches. Bassist Ken Haebich began his professional music career at age 13. He is currently a Professional Musician, Bassist, Composer, and Educator. Neal Wehman has been a top call freelance drummer in the Chicagoland area since 2007. He has been hired to play for the PBS special “Chicago Voices” featuring artists Renee Fleming, Kurt Elling, and John Prine. He was also a drummer for the hit Broadway musical “Hamilton” in Chicago. Together they perform an appealing repertoire that draws on their varied experience.
