Wild Skills Survival Training for Parent and Child
Children ages 8-12 with accompanying parent. Maximum 2 children per parent. (to register a second child, purchase a second ticket).
Fall is such a wonderful time to spend time in the woods, we are offering this special series
Survival skills are valuable on their own and make the perfect platform to encourage confidence and self-reliance all the while supporting teamwork, forging bonds between parent and child, and between fellow students. The activists covered make for valuable real life examples of scientific principals.
*you will need a survival knife, and you will receive a list of clothing requirements and what to bring.
Explore the woods in the company of your child and likeminded families while you learn valuable skills.
The course covers:
- Aiming.
- Situational awareness.
- Knife safety.
- Building a water filter from natural materials.
- Discussion and identification of food sources.
- Fire starting.
Making fire is an important team building exercise for children to work together to collect firewood and brush, build a series of fires. Kids are encouraged to discuss and identify what works best and work together.
Wrap up with juice, a bonfire, and s’mores kit.
Ticket: The ticket price represents promotional pricing, your ticket admits one child and one parent, this is not a drop off activity and no children will be admitted with out parent. A parent can bring up to two children with the purchase of an additional child.
About your instructor: Farm founder Kevin, spent his formative years living in his Indigenous community in the jungle of Nicaragua, from a very early age hunting for food with his uncles, learning to read subtle signs in the environment around him to survive. He spent much of his adult life practicing and teaching survival skills to young people.
Materials you will need to bring: a survival knife, water bottle, hat, sun protection and rain jacket. Wear sturdy, enclosed outdoor shoes, long pants even in hot weather and light weight long sleeves. NO SHORTS.
Check the weather ahead of class time, and dress accordingly.
The class is photographed, images may be used to promote future classes and for use on social media, images will be used for no other purposes and will not be displayed with any identifying information.

Farms differ from parks in that they do not have the same level of maintenance and landscaping, and the terrain is more rugged. Soleado Lavender Farm, as well as event organizers along with their affiliates and volunteers cannot be held responsible for injury or other mishap associated with these activities.
All children must remain with their parents at all times, we will ask you to leave if we see children with out their parents.
No PETS allowed. Vaping, smoking and outside alcohol is prohibited.
Weather policy: Event to be held rain or shine. The event will only be canceled if there are unsafe weather conditions, in the event of “acts of god,” health or safety mandates or if the instructor or host is incapacitated.
Tickets are nonrefundable, if the event is canceled, you will receive store credit that can be redeemed for future classes or farm products.
