At YWCA Charleston we are dedicated to our mission: eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
Description
Women of Achievement embody the YWCA mission of eliminating racism and empowering women. In honoring an outstanding group of women, you provide support for the YWCA’s programs, serving thousands of the most vulnerable women, children and families in Kanawha, Boone and Clay Counties. YWCA programs, facilities and services reach more than 5,000 individuals each year in Kanawha, Clay and Boone counties. Our shelters provide security for battered and homeless children and adults. We offer permanent housing for disabled, abused senior women. Our enriched childcare is available to all, regardless of income. Our retail clothing operation generates income for our programs and offers a much-needed commodity to those with little or no means. Our position on racial justice enables us to condemn racism in its many forms, and take actions to eliminate it from our communities.
