Create your own imaginative field guide documenting your family woodland adventure.
Families are invited to join Ball State University professor Ann Hildner on an immersive exploration of the beauty in our Indiana Woodlands. During this 3-day series participants will practice photography, digital design, and bookbinding.
Day 1 (at Cooper Farm): Bring your camera or smartphone to document the details of the natural environment including color, texture, shape and pattern.
Day 2 (at Madjax): Select photos and practice basic digital editing techniques to create imaginative and revealing images for your digital field guide.
Day 3 (at Madjax): Engage in basic bookbinding techniques to customize your own Woodland Adventure Field Guide.
About the Instructor: Ann Hildner is an Assistant Professor of Landscape Architecture at Ball State University. Ann has a Bachelor of Science degree in Art History from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from Ball State. Prior to her academic tenure, she was in practice as a landscape architect.
Important Registration Info or Prerequisites: First meeting will be held at Cooper Farms. Participants will need to bring their own camera and/or smartphone. During the 2nd session we will introduce photo editing/manipulation and design software- check box if you will bring your own laptop or need one provided. The workshop is designed for families to share in the experience together. It is recommended for ages 8 and above who must be actively accompanied by an adult.
All supplies will be provided. No prior skills or experience is necessary.
