As part of ISEA24, Brisbane Powerhouse is excited to invite you to hear from Yandell Walton as she discusses the intersection of art and technology in relation to her broader practice alongside her new work When We Are One, an exhibition interrogating human and plant symbiosis.

Yandell Walton is a highly regarded artist based in Naarm (Melbourne) whose work spans moving image, installation, and digital media. Her installations are known for their immersive nature, blurring the lines between the real and the virtual, and exploring ideas of impermanence in relation to environmental, social, and political issues.

Delving into the Posthuman, When We Are One aims to subvert the technology and present a more empathetic standpoint. Created with 3D models of plant life captured using photogrammetry and Motion Capture, the work addresses interactions of human, non-human, and technological.

Don’t miss this opportunity to engage directly with Yandell as she shares insights into her creative process and answers your burning questions.

Yandell is in Brisbane as part of the International Symposium of Electronic Art [ISEA].

Brisbane Powerhouse is Queensland’s home for contemporary culture, a magnificent power station of the 1920s reborn as an arts centre on the Brisbane River.

As Brisbane City Council’s premier arts venue, the much-loved building stages more than 1250 performances a year including a program of festivals, as well as hundreds of events and functions from weddings to conferences, all the while housing heritage-listed graffiti, riverside bars and restaurants, visual arts exhibitions and of course the stories of all who have ventured, laughed and shared memories within its living walls.
