The voices of cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and providers are powerful, and must be heard by decision makers. This session will discuss how your voice fits into every aspect of the policy process, from an idea to elected official accountability.

Emily Myatt is the Regional Government Relations Director at the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN). In that role, she develops and manages local and state policy campaigns, is the primary Minnesota lobbyist for the organization, and oversees state campaigns in Iowa and Indiana. Myatt has worked on successful campaigns to remove barriers to biomarker testing, fund cancer prevention and early detection programs, support patient quality of life, and address medical debt. Myatt sits on the Minnesota Cancer Alliance Steering and Policy Committees. Myatt is also a tri-chair of Minnesotans for a Smoke-Free Generation, a coalition of more than 50 organizations that share a common goal of advancing justice by striving toward a future where every person is free from commercial tobacco's harms and can reach their full health potential. Myatt received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Legal Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. In 2023, Myatt was named ACS CAN’s Field Government Relations Professional of the Year.
