It was invisible to most, and yet he saw it.
Its noiseless sound captured his attention,
and in that moment, that which was without hands
reached out to touch his heart.
The Japanese word, Yugen, describes hidden, mysterious, yet overwhelming beauty that may go unperceived, but when experienced, brings profound awareness and joy to one’s heart and soul. Yugen moments are waiting to happen, everywhere, all the time. On this evening’s slow, stroll through the forest, we will explore the notion of Yugen, and practice bringing it into our lives.
Wear footwear suitable for trail walking and dress appropriately for whatever the weather might bring. Bring hiking poles if you wish. Because this is an after hours program and the arboretum will be closed to the general public, please plan to arrive a few minutes early as the gates will close promptly at 5:30 PM. Group size will be limited, so register early to be sure to secure a spot!
